My lettering journey began in 2019 when I bought my first iPad. I spent the first year exploring different apps for illustrations - Procreate, Adobe Fresco, Affinity by Serif, Artstudio Pro. I loved how all of them provided me with creative freedom by having various brushes and options for them.
I quickly started incorporating lettering into my work - from t-shirt designs to custom invitations, I explored every option to include hand-drawn typography in my process. My clients started noticing that I create the text by hand and more and more people started contacting me for custom lettering projects.
Here is how my style progressed during the years and some of my favorite work:
My process for creating a lettering design is very simple, systemized, and begins just like any illustration - with sketches in Procreate. These are sent to the client at the very early stage - this way we avoid doing the larger work upfront and save a lot of time. After the approval, I continue polishing the letters and the composition, drawing illustrations where necessary and adding colors.
During the whole process, I am working on a large-resolution canvas, ensuring the vectorizing and tracing in Adobe Illustrator would go smoothly. Of course, this is not always the case, especially with detailed artwork, and some more adjusting of the colors and paths is often needed. Depending on the project needs, I export the illustration in the correct color formats and files. One lettering project can take anywhere between 8h to a week, depending on the complexity.
